Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day - just another day in the life of a guy so full of joy and happiness - a guy so grateful for the wonderful people around him - a guy so grateful for a loving family and so many caring friends - a guy so grateful for the support and help in my continued quest for complete peace - OH MY GOD! If I were so inclined, but I am not - what a syrupy sweet spewing of niceness - wow - not sure what happened - must be feelin' the "holidays are just about over euphoria" - oh, how the hell do I know - know what I mean?
Yes, thank you for all the well wishes while I was recuperating - this is the first page full of words submitted since the "incident" - the brain is a delicate object and I am told functions best when connected to another part of your body but can't remember which part that would be - but thank you for the encouragement and strength to rebound and continue my journey - one step at a time, one day at a time - anyway - what has everyone been up to? How was the day? Ok!
Started today and previous days since we last encountered with ceramic mugs filled with hot goodness I like to call 'Love' - some people call it 'love' - I prefer 'Love' or coffee works too - pretty lazy the last couple of days - winter time is like that - do what you can indoors - hole in wall where I have been banging my head - and other stuff - Xmas is packed away for another year - always get a feeling of a fresh start to the new year when the last Xmas ornament is neatly crammed into the storage space designated for seasons - we have Fall stuff, Spring stuff, Halloween, Easter, Valentine's Day, 4th of July, Canada Day and all other seasons and holiday decorations neatly crammed into their designated place - cataloged and filed in alphabetic order and by calendar sequence - what really threw me off years ago was the whole Washington's birthday and Lincoln's birthday consolidated into one holiday - had to redo the whole storage system - then throw Martin Luther King in the mix - talk about not knowing where to start - heck I didn't know where to start - that's what I am talking about - anyway - my life, you know!
So I heard something about a guy trying to blow up a plane - wait a minute - every time I get on a plane I almost have to get undressed - although I learned you should wait for them to ask before taking your pants completely off to show them your 'weapon' - I was told that not everyone calls it their 'weapon' and it is ok to take on the plane, just don't show everyone - so how did some guy on a terrorist list get on several flights with pants full of explosive? Anyway...
It wasn't so much the cement walls that bothered him, it was the color. Cement or concrete should never be painted gray. It's concrete, it's gray already, don't enhance the grayness of the concrete. He would have settled for any color besides gray. How about pink, maybe a bright orange? Concrete looks nice with a bright blue coating. Anything but gray. Did the world intend to completely punish him by painting an already gray substance even a grayer gray? It wasn't so much the cement walls that bothered him.
Big Larry and Hambone wish all of the patrons of the Stage Stop a very merry christmas and don't worry - the roller dog machine is being fixed and should be back in time for new years!
The ground was so frozen that even the heaviest of the pack left no footprint - Bye ho Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day - just another day in the life of a 16th century shoemaker - mending the shoes of the working class, a leather patch here, a new soul there - yes, I meant to spell it soul and not sole - getting deep with this one - making a custom pair of shoes for the king, who by the way has worn his shoes on the wrong feet for years but no one has the guts to tell him "Hey King, you're shoes are on the wrong feet" - probably because he would say "But noble sir, these are the only feet I have, and by the way where did you get that lovely ascot?" Our king is like that - anyway just another day in the life!
Started today like most days - woke screaming from an ongoing nightmare and didn't dare fall back to sleep because of the furry little thoughts that would creep back in once my mind slipped into that hallway between the sleep and awake rooms - nah, just woke up and was ready to rumble - pretty typical Saturday - maybe Sunday will bring better sleeping results.
Is it wrong to be able to entertain yourself or to amuse yourself? Not talking about that you perv - I know that is ok - talking about finding amusement in the everyday and then giggling to myself about it - you know, kind of like a private joke just between you and yourself - or irony, satire or that other thing, pain - Is that wrong? You are getting a headache aren't you.
Had a long talk with Hambone the other day - hadn't seen or heard from him in awhile - he was sick with the flu and was staying at his sister's house - or someones house - maybe it wasn't the flu - anyway, had a long talk with Hambone.
The pressure is on when the warning light starts flashing - will the task be completed before the time runs out? This is too much pressure for one person - should have more time to complete such a difficult set of tasks - almost there, can't stop now - done.
Who was the person that decided no two snow flakes are alike? Bye fu Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day - Just another day in the life of a 20th century adult in modern civilization - dealing with modern civilized issues - things that even just a few years ago would have been unheard of - oh the joys of adulthood in modern civilized times - who knew you would have to fight every month with the cell phone company over messing up your bill - or argue with the wireless company about long term plans and such - guess it beats worrying about if the Vikings are going to invade your village and cut off your wee wee and send it out to sea on a burning raft - no not the football team Vikings, although I hear they can party with the best of them - anyways, feeling ok for the moment about stuff and really, isn't that what life is all about? The precious moments of serenity, no matter how fleeting, crap, do I really have to get up and go to work tomorrow? Fleeting, fleeting...
So, started today like most days, coffee, coffee, coffee and waiting for people to come do some work on house - little bump in plans but everything turned out ok - thank you to all involved - very much appreciate your effort - feeling a moment of serenity right now - and heat also!
To all the drivers who forget how to drive in snow from year to year, laughing at your ass if you slide off road - it's snow people, it's slick people, can't do 65 on freeway - slick? Not funny if you have serious accident though, but remember - slick, snow is slick and please slow down.
Big Larry seems to be doing all right in this cold - remember he bought a new coat earlier this year and said it is keeping him warm - he also said he can hide a six pack of beer underneath coat and no one notices - don't want to know how he gets beer or where he needs to sneak beer to - suppose one day will need to bail him and his coat out of jail - again.
She was feeling good about the night. Friday night was usually a good night to go out. The parties were a little more spontaneous, payday and all. Nothing too planned, just hit the bars and go hard. If she was lucky tonight might be the night. Of course, with the way she operated any night could be the night.
Something to ponder - is a triple patty hamburger better than three single patty hamburgers? hmmm... Bye oh Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day - just another day in the life of a dude that is relatively ignorant about computers and the Internet and world wide web and URL's, http's, com., org., copy, paste, send, view, right click, left click, escape, F1, F2 and FU... but otherwise just another day.
Had several people ask how come I haven't been posting for the last week or so and I must confess it is because I am ignorant of computers for the most part. I was unable to share my Thanksgiving ramble and so I thought something was broken, like maybe the little wire that connects this blog to the outside world was broken or something. That is how my mind works or doesn't work - take your pick. So anyway, with the help of my technical support daughter I figured it out and now the world may enjoy ramblings once again on a regular basis - hello girls!
Started today as with many days by waking - always good - getting out of bed - good too - and then downing a large volume of coffee - which had me wired and ready to rumble by 7:30 or so this morning - wow, those 'bucks people can roast a mean bean - I couldn't sit down, couldn't stand still either - hell I was pacing in the kitchen just watching a pot of water boil - I rub coffee grounds on my wrists and ankles at pulse points to get the full caffeine effect - well, maybe just one wrist - ok, ok, ok.
Has anyone been following what is going on in the world? I know I ask this a lot but sometimes I lose track of world and other events - let's see, any earthquakes, floods, bombings, plane crashes, world famous golfers cheating on their wives? Anything like that? Oh, ok. Turns out Tiger is quite the dog and his wife has a wicked follow through with a 9 iron.
If you see Big Larry let him know some girl has been calling and wants him to contact her - she said something about being late and not remembering if she was in Idaho or Montana around the first of October - also something about Big Larry owing her $20 bucks, good luck with that!
The skin on the back of his hand was crawling like the skin of a snakes belly. He could flex his hand and the skin would move like a wave, a psychedelic picture, flowing and moving with the bone and muscle underneath. He sat there for hours just watching his skin moving, crawling, twitching with the ticking of the clock. His eyes locked on the back of his hand.
Have you ever been to Wichita? Me either. Bye lordy Bye.

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day - well, just another day for a pilgrim right off of the Mayflower and sitting around waiting for the turkey to be done - instructions said cook 12-15 minutes for each pound and watch for the little indicator to pop up once it was done - do you think they had a Marie Calendar's in the pilgrim days? Good pies but not sure about their stuffing - tastes like Stove Top to me - anyway, us pilgrims have it pretty good with all the food today - hope those native Americans bring the green bean casserole, that is good eatin' - John Smith likes dark meat, rumor has it that is why he had to leave England.
If you haven't guessed, today is American Thanksgiving - friends and relatives in Canada had their Thanksgiving in October - cool - started today with a great holiday blend from 'bucks - the Thanksgiving blend - probably will drink a pot this morning and another throughout the day - sharing this special blend with family - I know, what a great guy! Special thanks go out to my favorite nephew Tyler who makes my great coffee selection possible - if you see Tyler today tell him he is my favorite nephew. So, what is everyone doing for this holiday? What are you thankful for? I am thankful for so many things, family, employment, health (mental?), warm home in the winter, cool home in the summer, the assortment of birds that eat about $20 worth of bird food each week, the people that keep our country safe, various and complicated other things that are too vast to mention - oh, one more thing I am thankful for is the author Charles Bukowski, thankful for his works, thanks Henry!
Big Larry will not be joining us for dinner today as he is working - seems Thanksgiving is a day that the management of the Stage Stop is desperate enough for workers that they will let Big Larry work a full shift - he is usually only good for a couple of hours before he starts hanging around the beer cooler just a little too much, or he'll get hungry and try to dispense the pump cheese straight into his mouth - but today he is going to work a full shift - mainly just being there to keep the shelves and cooler stocked, rotating the roller dogs, making sure the restrooms have TP, etc. - he was actually excited to work all day because if he does they will let him eat for free - Thursday is usually meat loaf but don't tell him that today is probably turkey, he still can't eat turkey after the little incident with the feathers - makes me cringe a little too!
Be thankful for what you have and not pissy about what you don't - just for today anyway! Bye gobble gobble Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day - another fantastic day in the life of a space cowboy - gliding through space at intergalactic speeds to new adventures not yet known to the inhabitants of our green and blue planet - discovering the wonders of distant worlds and life - I'm a joker and and a smoker, I'm a midnight toker - sure don't want to hurt no one.
Maybe I should change the title of this endeavor to 'Journey of a Space Cowboy' - what do you think? - let's take a vote - all those in favor say ahhhh - wave your hands in the air like you just don't care - bite my arse - like I care - well, I do and I am a very delicate little flower - my feelings are always in consideration when it comes to what others think of me - Space Cowboy - ha,ha,ha, - I do believe that was my first ha,ha of the month - only wish it was my last - not doing too well in the ha,ha department.
Started today at an ungodly hour - and what is 'ungodly'? - I suppose that term might mean 'hell' or 'hellish', without god maybe? - just really early is what I mean - awake and couldn't sleep well before normal people are awake on a Sunday morning - oh by the way it is Sunday in November creeping up on Thanksgiving - and when I say normal people what does that mean? - all over the place here today - and if you want a messed up schedule drink a pot of high octane 'bucks coffee before the sun comes up and just see if you don't swiffer and vacuum and do the dishes all at once - but then by noon I crashed hard - drool on the loveseat crash - nice, nice. So how was your day? Tell me please! or not, it's ok.
So, what shall we talk about today? That's what I thought - a one way conversation - I didn't really watch any news today so if you want to talk about current affairs go ahead - watched alot of football and that was about it.
Had tons of e-mail this week asking how come I wasn't posting new ramblings - well, it is a long story but one that must be told - Big Larry came by last week and asked if he could log on to my computer to check on the Nascar standings - he said he was in some fantasy Nascar league and if he wins he would get a free trip to a race next year - so I let him use my computer and it seems he was surfing some questionable sites and picked up some virus in my computer that kept me from accessing this site to post new thoughts - and somewhere along the line he tried to get into a local police records site to manipulate a traffic ticket - so he said - the five policemen who showed up at my door and interrogated me for three hours said something about threats to national security - but I find it hard to believe that Big Larry is sophisticated enough to hack into such sites - although he did work for a large computer firm years ago - hmmm...
Buy a yacht with a flag sayin' chillin' the most - Bye low Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day - A beautiful cool morning nestled in the lovely mountain retreat of Austria known as Hassleburg - drinking fine brewed European coffee while watching the high clouds encircling the mountain peaks and the first hint of winter drifts through like a long lost visitor to our village - or I am sitting in my recliner with a laptop and drinking 'bucks coffee brewed in the cheapest Mr. Coffee (with auto-timer) that I could find at WalMart - no product or retailer endorsement intended - and how do I know if this will be just another day? - well, young reader, so far it has been a morning of reading and coffee - Just another Day - not complaining, just saying.
Going through another not sleeping phase - believe it is related to intergalactic space travel by unknown beings - when they pass too close to Earth I have visions of their travel - it is these visions that keep me from sleeping - I have chronicled the life long experience of my visions in a book that you might be interested in reading - the book is called 'Visions of an American Madman' and may be purchased at any chain bookstore for $19.95 - cheaper if you happen to have a membership with the chain store - sometimes up to 10% off - anyway, I guess there must be some alien convention or something in the Radex galaxy because all of the travel is in that direction and there has been a steady stream of spaceships and other craft passing through our solar system lately - I will keep you up to date if I have any particularly good visions.
Has anyone been watching any news lately? I guess it would help to catch a few minutes of news or read a paper once in awhile to see what is going on in the world - is the President on a trip to Asia or someplace? - seems the economy is healed, isn't it? oh - any celebrities passed away lately? - ok, maybe I will set aside some time this brisk November weekend to scan some news - does watching videos clips of dogs chasing their tail count for news? so funny though - should be good college football too - a smart television network would have news updates during football time outs - would make for a well rounded viewer - maybe I will mention that to my media friends.
"What is the difference between steam and smoke?" asked the young scientist from Miss Wembley's second grade class. Miss Wembley replied with a trembling voice "And why do you ask young Master Smith?" Young scientist Master Smith hesitated...
Bye laughing quietly to myself Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day - by popular demand - really surprised at the amount of feedback I have received by loyal followers of my periodic ramblings - Thank You for the kind words of encouragement and yes I plan on being here for a long time - not to worry - I do it for you! - oops - just pooped in my pants a little there - A fan favorite is Just another Day in the life of a pirate of the high seas - blah, blah, blah, blah, blah... Johnny Depp is a good pirate - also a good Hunter S. Thompson, you know "Fear and Loathing" dude - never mind - anyway, go pirate go - lovely weather we are having but seems there may be a little cold front moving in for a few days and then back to a little warmer weather - this weather forecast brought to you by RamblingsofanAmericanMadman.com now playing in a theater near you - oh, I can dream of fame and fortune can't I? Yes I can!
Started the day like most other days - coffee, shower, stock market reports, coffee, get dressed while watching stock market reports, coffee, drink coffee while getting dressed while watching stock market reports - wow, no wonder I am tired early, there is a lot going on there - feel like I missed something though - did I mention coffee, probably - if I didn't mention coffee in this blog I wouldn't have anything to write about - better be careful using that word - write - lawsuits have happened over lesser infractions - good day today - not for everyone but some days are just like that - will keep smiling - got into a bit of a mind funk earlier - spinning, spinning - a mile on the treadmill and a cold shower snapped me out of it - funks can usually be attributed to plopping down in front of TV and staring at it for more than is healthy funk wise.
A bad man was executed tonight - have mixed feelings about the death penalty - in this case it was probably OK - what are your thoughts?
Caller ID is a wonderful thing - what did we do before caller ID? - just take a chance that it would be someone you wanted to talk to? - I remember not having caller ID and seems like we welcomed the phone to ring - maybe it was the adventure of the thing - funny, not funny ha,ha just funny.
The moment I stepped off the train I realized that...oh, so you have heard this one before? OK, well then, that is all I have - Bye whoa Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day! My it was just another day in the life of an Indian Chief - feather not dot - leading my tribe of noble proud people through the hardships and bounty that is the gift of the earth - sleeping on elk robes and dressed in fine leather beaded to indicate my high status among the native people - wow, forgot, I am allergic to elk robes, better find a new gig - anyway, great day in the country we call southwest Idaho and great weather for this time of year - has anyone read the Farmer's Almanac? how is the winter suppose to be weather wise? Get back to me if you would please. Not a big winter fan - well, hate winter is more appropriate to describe my feelings - oh, don't look at me like that - and don't look at me like that either - in fact don't look at me at all - geez - winter, don't freak out on me just because I am not a winter lover.
Started today surrounded by loved ones for breakfast - great way to start a Sunday - happy faces and fried eggs, sausage, hash browns and blueberry waffles - no wonder I felt like taking a nap shortly after noon - by the way, be sure to tell those close to you thank you for being good people - I am sure I don't express that enough but will make an effort to do so in the future. Coffee was very good today - stepped away from the 'bucks brand for a day to expand my coffee experience and was not disappointed in the Kootenai brand - in fact it was quite delightful - but my affiliation with a major nationwide chain keeps me from saying too much more for fear they will stop my supply of beans - and you don't want me going without coffee for too long - I mean, I don't want to be without it - sorry, freaking myself out there - let's not talk about it.
Hambone finally called today - said he is having some medical issues - I told him I am not interested in his self pleasuring problems but he said it wasn't that this time - he hasn't been having regular bowel movements lately and the only way he does is if he plans it out - it has become quite an ordeal - he has to be at home, not at his sister's but his little trailer, he needs a bottle of red wine, a bottle of white wine, thermos of coffee, pack of Marlboro, pack of Kools, two different newspapers, the TV on and a full roll of two-ply toilet paper - even then he said it is no guarantee - he has become quite worried - I am not answering the phone for awhile.
There once was a man from Nantucket - who carried his lunch in a bucket - believe we are told, a half ton did it hold - the contents each day he would supp it! Bye a Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day in the life of a middle eastern camel herder - driving my herd of camels from oasis to oasis looking for fresh grass and water but all the while secretly smuggling precious items across the border all the while remaining undetectable as a nondescript humble camel herder - anyways, not sure where that was going - as with most of this effort - sometimes it just hits a dead end - and sometimes it just hits a dead end - and sometimes...
Notice anything different about 'Ramblings' today? Yes, I have taken to referring to this blog as 'Ramblings' - I took a survey of readers and by a wide margin (99.9%) they gave their approval to just call this 'Ramblings' - ok? - anyway, notice anything different? Yes, it is morning and a weekday - a most different time for me to be tickling the keyboard - keyboards giggle when you tickle them, well giggle might not be the right term - so back to the day and time of this writing, well now writing might be a bit presumptive, words on a computer screen, we will go with that - I am taking some well deserved time away from work, not actually my idea but a higher being suggested, or actually mandated unpaid time off in an effort to maintain employment - not like I had a say in it but probably a good idea - you know the maintaining employment thing - employment keeps me in things like food and such, probably another good idea, you know the food and such - so anyway that is why I am here this day and time, just in case you were wondering - didn't mean to throw you off of your 'Ramblings' schedule - I know you look for it late at night when some of this stuff makes sense - but I am not really sure the time of day has affected any clarity or logic or anything else as it still seems to be 1000 words of, well, 'Ramblings' - nice day so far though!
So, what is new with you? Troubling news out of the nation's largest army base, tragedy is what it is - stock market was up significantly yesterday - maybe I should start giving stock tips on here - that may be the subject of my next survey - survey says!
Has anyone seen Big Larry lately - or Hambone for that matter? I get a little nervous when I don't hear from one or the other for a few days - usually means trouble - maybe I better call the jail and find out if bail money should be raised - no, if it was that they would have called me - probably in the middle of the night - always sets me back a few hundred dollars when I get those calls - last time Hambone didn't want to leave - said he had grown to like the bologna sandwiches and Juicy Juice - they made him leave anyway - let me know if you see Big Larry or Hambone.
If anyone knows the lyrics to 'Beverly Hillbillies' please don't tell anyone else you know the lyrics to 'Beverly Hillbillies' - Bye you Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day! Oh, yes just another day in the life of a WW1 flying ace - cruising the skies in my bi-plane - keep it clean, knuckleheads - looking for enemy fighters to do battle with in the wild blue yonder - dropping agent orange on the jungles to defoliate them and drive out the hated Commies - wait - maybe I need to source my thoughts here for a minute - may be wrong period of battles - which one was Snoopy in again? A beautiful day for the eleventh month of 2009 in the 41st state of the union - 42? Note to self - might do a little more prep work before you start typing there young Bukowski - if you know Bukowski then you are ok - or not - don't use me as a reference - just a friendly warning - or advice - you pick.
I see the latest scam to hit the streets is door-to-door flu vaccination - now I thought I was gullible for sending $500 to Ethiopia and hoping the prince would reward me with millions for getting him out of jail - he sounded so sincere in the e-mail - you have to feel sorry for a prince that has been wrongly imprisoned for being royalty - the money went toward bribes to get him out so he could get across the border to Swayze and access his secret banks accounts - once he was free he would reward those that helped him by transferring money to your checking account - once you gave him access of course - oh, but to be awakened from the dream by some news program that featured the prince as a scam artist - oh well, but even I wouldn't fall for a door-to-door flu vaccination scam - wonder if it is the regular or H1N1 flu vaccination?
Anybody hear the election results? Yes, I understand we have a new president - last years election - I am talking about today - did that one guy make it back in office?
Hambone said he doesn't vote anymore - he thinks the government is corrupt and by voting you are giving a nod to the corruption - some of the locals called Hambone the 'Mayor of Stage Stop' but Big Larry said Hambone would prefer to be called 'Your Excellency' and I don't think the joke was funny anymore - now Big Larry is the for real 'Bogan Prince of Idaho' - a title bestowed upon him by for real Bogan royalty - anyway, Hambone doesn't vote anymore.
And the wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round - oh, keep it clean, knuckleheads - Bye what Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day in the life of a high seas pirate - running down the tall ships and plundering their booty, and living the life of a free man of the oceans, without a care, except I must have had a care or two in the past because I have a freakin' wooden leg and only one eye, and I keep getting this hook for a hand stuck in the keyboard of my computer - the Geek Squad dude calls me Black Beard the keyboard destroyer - such is the life of a pirate! Weather wasn't too promising early on but as the day progressed it became respectable, weather wise - for this part of the country and for this time of the year.
Started the day in all the old familiar ways - eyes open, copious amounts of liquid life (could be different things to different people, with me it is coffee, is this the longest run on words between parenthesis you have seen in awhile, me too), showered, do I really need to go through this step by step, I will you know, I will - work was busy but not as busy as yesterday, like you care, well I care - nice evening, a few errands and a trip to my favorite haunt, get it, Halloween tomorrow and today I went to my favorite haunt, clever boy - it's a book store by the way - I like all book stores but have my faves - do you read? - besides this I mean? - that's cool - not everything for everyone - a rule the world should recognize by the way - I am slowly adopting it - slowly.
The big news today was that the recession is over! The what is what? I thought it was just starting and now it is over? Let's ask the unemployed, uninsured, hungry and homeless if they are celebrating because the recession is over? Oh.
I will never go shopping with Big Larry again! He won $75 dollars on a scratch off ticket and wanted me to help him pick out a sweat shirt for winter, but in the mean time he wanted to try on every shirt in the store even though he had no intention of buying a shirt - and of course he wants to try on the shirts that come packed with cardboard and tissue paper and plastic and about 27 pins strategically placed all over - well, he forgot to take one pin out and it stuck him in the neck and by the time I hauled him out of the store he had threatened every clerk, shouted up and down the aisles about a pin conspiracy and had just about halfway written a law suit against the store for attempted murder by pin - I might go shopping with Big Larry someday, just not too soon.
Has anyone seen my car keys or my pipe wrench? They were here just a minute ago while I was making dinner. Oh. Time to go - Bye low Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day - Yes, today truly was just another day in the life of an ant in the giant anthill of life - dutifully fulfilling the tasks while not straying from the designated stream of co-worker ants as we all mindlessly go about our designated duties - starting to fade on the duty and task thought here - fading, fading... Still, all in all it was a pretty good day - Just another Day!
Creeping up on Halloween this year known as the year before 2010 - a little math there - started the day with a bright white porcelain chalice filled with the nectar of life - or as they would say in the olden days 'cup of coffee' - hell, who am I kidding, I drank half a pot before most people drink a quarter of a pot - that didn't really sound too impressive - I drank a 55 gallon drum of coffee just to get out of bed - so there - what do you think of me now? So harsh people - a guy has feelings you know! Good day at work - nothing notable happening - which could be good - or could be bad - now I am worried, which is it? Good? Bad? Are you following me? If you are please tell the guy in the third row that I like his jacket - sorry, old joke - didn't say it was a good joke, I just said it was an old joke. There you go with the harshness again.
There was no news today - I turned on the news channel and the newscasters took the day off because there was no news to report - what is old news? Wouldn't it just be olds - news is new stuff - olds is old stuff - I should write someone about that.
Big Larry has called me three times to talk about something that is really bothering him - he has seen a news report about an NFL quarterback eating a hot dog on the sideline during a game - evidently as a player they are not suppose to eat on the sideline and this quarterback was reprimanded for sneaking a hot dog while the game was in progress - now Big Larry is all upset and thinks this quarterback has every right in the world to eat a hot dog anytime and anywhere he wants - Big Larry was citing passages out of the US Constitution about hot dog rights, citizenship and freedom of religion - the best day in Big Larry's life (next to the trip to Las Vegas and about a hundred other days) was the day they put the pump cheese next to the roller dogs at the Stage Stop - anyway Big Larry said he is not going to let this go - Big Larry does like a good hot dog.
So, I turned to the man and I said... Bye if not Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day - Yes, Just another Day of life, love and laughs - after all, the purpose of our existence is to enjoy every moment to it's fullest - help your neighbor, smile at strangers and be the best you can be - and all the while maintaining a balance of family, job and community - whoa, whoa, whoa - fingers and mind are not working in unison here - not a big surprise but one or the other went a little crazy for a second or two - keep that in mind - be the best you can be? - might be a touch of food poisoning causing that line of thought.
One thing that sticks out about today is that the weather was perfect for the end of October - sun shining bright and temp just right - good day to rake leaves and then sit on patio with a good cup of coffee - by the way, started the day with a masterpiece of a carafe of the Lord's liquid elixir - you chose your own Lord and I will chose mine - my Lord drinks good coffee and lots of it - bless you Lord - oh seriously - chill people, chill.
I have a question for all you IT experts - guess I will start from the beginning - I was looking for a new computer and just so happens a guy came to the door selling computers out of the back of his Kia Rio - he said he was with Good Buy, an affiliate of Best Buy, their door to door arm of the company - I was a little skeptical at first but he said he had HP computers and I do enjoy their steak sauce so I listened - a brand new used refurbished lap top (with new duct tape at no extra charge) - for $199 I bought a computer but had to make the check out to the salesman, for warranty reasons I think - anyway, it seems when I access the Internet with this new machine I am constantly automatically logged on to porn sites - now here is my question - how come my old computer didn't do that? Chill people, chill!
Oh boy, Big Larry spent two hours today figuring out his fantasy football team and standings - calculating yardage and points and percentages for a make believe team - this from a guy that can't put together a resume' or is not allowed in a bank or probably doesn't know how to spell fantasy - priorities for the modern man!
This was not a very good showing so I am quitting while barely hanging on by a thread - not sure what that means but really need to quit - Bye oh Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day in the life of a cowboy - silver spurs and six shooters - ridin' the range and roundin' up the strays - if you know me that is funny stuff - creeping toward the end of October in this the year 2009 - weather pretty typical for this time of year - oh, this scramble is weak, weak, weak - better step up my game and bring my nasty stuff - calm now people, that is just a figure of speech - I don't have any nasty stuff or know any nasty stuff and wouldn't know nasty stuff if it was stuck to the bottom of my shoe, or bottom of my Adidas slides, which I prefer to wear, with white cotton socks this time of year - not trying to be funny - just telling it like it is - which can be funny sometimes.
I think I have expressed this before but the troubles in life can put into perspective if you spend a few hours once in awhile watching children's cartoons - I prefer Sponge Bob Square Pants - don't analyze it too much - just enjoy the relationships and naivety of the characters - if a bill collector calls while you are watching Sponge Bob ask them which character is their favorite - let them know that you are recording the call and that Gary is your favorite character - most bill collectors like Patrick - must be a personality thing - Sponge Bob is a children's cartoon right? Man, gotta get past that dream thing - do you ever get that dream thing - you start believing dreams are real and reality is a dream? - I think it is normal for most people - that's what I think.
Started the day with a couple of my favorite people and a large infusion of 'bucks. I intentionally leave off the Star because I am trying to be hip and in and I noticed cool people talk like that. I was actually pretty cool today, if you mean just a heartbeat or two above a coma - lazy day, lazy day - some college football, good book, my piddow and blanky - did stir enough later to have dinner and attend some local theatre so the day wasn't a total wanker - a wanker isn't like a cold sore is it because that isn't what I meant.
Do you remember that old cartoon Underdog? No reason, just asking - what kind of dog was he? Did people neuter their dog back then? No reason, just asking.
Ok, I get the hint - you don't need to be so rude - you are not exactly subtle you know - just don't repeat that to someone of authority - Bye or Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day in the life of a famous author, moving on from this rambling mess and now working on a wordsmith masterpiece, a novel for the ages, an Oprah recommended best seller - just goshing ya - got a little excited there for just a second or so! So many people would be disappointed if I quit this rambling mess, so many - but it was just another day! Did anyone notice the weather? Beautiful day in paradise, aka this place we live - you call this living? Sometimes I feel like I am talking to myself here - and then I answer myself - talk a little more - answer a little more - you get the point.
What did you do today? Me either! Started the day very well - ingested just the right combination of water strained through ground up coffee beans - yes, lubba the java - I think that is a Star Wars character - maybe not - day went by well - work, work, work - nice evening of a little sports on the TV - a little treadmill time and a nice visit with some people we all know and love - well, not everyone knows them, but if you did you would love them!
The father that wants to see the DC sniper's execution accepted a deal from a TV show to do some interviews in exchange for the airfare and hotel. I suggest a few thousand of us chip in a
buck or two to get him there and avoid the freakin' circus that the TV show will turn it into! Here is my $2!
Someone asked me if Hambone and Big Larry were brothers. I don't think so, but I am not sure either one would admit it if they were, would you? Just so you know, Big Larry is Caucasian - just so you know. Maybe he is a Shriner - no I think Caucasian.
What did the steam engine say to the gasoline engine? Oh... can't remember - that is not what the steam engine said, I just can't remember - it was good though, it was.
I must be done - Bye yo Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day in the life of an international man of mystery and intrigue - jetting around the world fighting the evil that sours the civility of our civilness - sorry, went just one or two words too many there and flamed out - Just another Day! But a very nice day it was in our highly metropolitan garden we like to call home - note to self, look up the word 'metropolitan' , might be using it in the wrong context - three guesses as to the month we are in and only two guesses for the year - I got them both on the second guess - so much to remember - so much!
Started the day like so many days start - woke up - nice way to begin - seemed to require a wee bit more 'bucks this morning to get the spring wound, if you know what I mean? - but once the engine starts I am off and purring like a kitten for a good thirty, sometimes thirty-five minutes before I begin to question Mother Nature and doubt the skin I was born in - oh, don't look at me like I am crazy - are you looking at me? Ok. Good day for the most part - a lot of phone work - a lot of paper work - a fair amount of computer work - that's what I do, mix it all together and they call it a job - as I always say ' No one yelled at me today, so it had to be a good day!' - I always say that you know.
Heard an interesting concept today - that we should consider health care along the same lines as elementary and high school education - as an essential part of our society - something to think about.
I keep hearing about the balloon boy and his family - I think they accomplished what they wanted - a little bit of notoriety and TV time - let's hear more - can't be any worse than the people with eight kids - oh, I am jabbing myself in the leg with a sharp instrument - can't believe I am even mentioning reality TV - anyway.
Big Larry called tonight but I was out - he left a message on the machine - it was a 15 second burp and another 15 seconds of laughing at his own burp and then he said "Guess he's not home!"
And the man rounded for home but was held at third base as the ball was rocketed from center field to the catcher - that's all I got boys, all I got - Bye when Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day - what am I saying? It was a great day in the greatest corner of America because you know America is square and we are in the corner down by the bottom - or is it the side - get those shapes confused - and never did understand the foot and meter thing anyway - just a matter of time anyway until our whole system of government is metric - we will be working for pesos and Euros, you watch - that is what happens when your country has corners - it was a nice day though! Yes, still October of the year 2000 plus nine - see how I did that? Ok ok ok...
Started the day in a fair part of the country, with some pine trees and mountains - lovingly referred to as the cabin by the lake - lovingly because we all love being there just don't get there often enough - the day was a little rough though because I was roughing it by drinking a popular store brand of already ground coffee - miss my beans - but I lived to tell the tale and am a better person for the experience - like they always say "If it didn't kill you, it will make you smarter!" or maybe it's "stronger", maybe it is "smarter" - because as you can tell I am smarter - and who are "they?" - I think it is a committee of really smart people that sit around and say things, because I hear it all the time "like they always say!" - well, not all the time, but you know what I mean - right?
Did you hear the big news story today? The family that sent their kid into space in a helium balloon did it for publicity! Or was it that they sent up the balloon and thought the kid was in it? How did the story go? Anyway, I guess it was a stunt. Wasn't it? It was headline news.
Hambone is offended by the term 'swine flu' - he says it has nothing to do with swine and prefers the H1N1 flu designation - Hambone is a sensitive person - very protective of family and friends - if you see Hambone give him a hug - unless you have a cough or flu like symptoms then just wave - H1N1 you know!
Ok, does anyone have any questions? Please join me again this week for our in depth discussion of this blog - usual place and time - e-mail for driving directions -always a good time, good, good time - see you there! Bye for bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day in the life of a Russian Czar - starting revolutions, ordering the takeover of neighboring countries, generally creating havoc but yet living a sophisticated and gentile lifestyle suited for one with impeccable tastes and superior breeding - just guessing about the Czar thing - used to live next to a Czar - or maybe he was from Poland - notice how I used some crazy words there? - groovy - Czar and groovy - wonder if anyone referred to the Czar as groovy? Groovy Czar - kind of just rolls off the tongue - anyway.
Started this day in October with the usual mind bending amount of highly caffeine charged go juice - naw, not going to use the term 'go juice' - sounds weird - I prefer 'amber loveliness' - conveys my appreciation for the stuff - would it be amber or some other color? I am about half or three quarters color stupid anyway - not color blind - although sometimes orange and pink are hard to tell apart - just not up on my colors - good with basics, blue, red, white, etc. - perhaps due to age of color crayons only coming in packs of sixteen - now crayons come in packs the size of a small vehicle and contain some funky color names that seem almost made up - 'Death Red', 'Summer Sunburn', 'Rotten Fish' - although I guess a color could be expressed as rotten fish seems more of a smell - like I said started the day as usual but I am writing this in the morning and not at my usual time - is the brain fresher in the morning? are thoughts different at 8:00 am than at 11:00pm? something to think about - groovy czar!
So - because I am writing this early in the day I have not heard any news - anyone have any idea what is going on this morning - my lights and heat are on, the water is flowing but beyond that I am not sure of any life beyond this room - must look outside soon - seems the top story this week was some family that sends their kids up in helium balloons for publicity, I am cool with that - no one was hurt - gave us something to shake our heads about - groovy czar.
Big Larry said he went up in a balloon once - didn't like the feeling though - said he will stick with skunk weed and Oly - not sure what that means - maybe one day he will explain - maybe.
Well, seems I have run out of cute and interesting things to ponder groovy czar - groovy - czar - should czar be capitalized? Depends on the context I suppose - breaker, breaker what is your context? Bye but Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day!!! Yes, even though it was a very nice Sunday lodged somewhere in the month of October in the grand and glorious year of 2009 and we are living in the greatest spot in the greatest country on God's green earth - still some discussion about the whole creation / evolution thing... won't get into that today though - anyway, it was Just another Day!!! Nice weather though, a little cool but the sun was nice! Positive, stay positive young man! Lots of exclamation points today!!! Feeling it, feeling it ... Yes!!!
As stated earlier and often, the day is always just a bit brighter with a generous dosing of caffeine to start your day - the exact quote is " coffee is good" but I have expanded on the quote - why? Oh my gosh, please do not ask why? I have no reason other than it takes up space on this sheet and after all I am paid by the word don't you know - I could write the same two words over and over and because no one actually ever reads this stuff, I would still get paid for the word count - nobody checks to see if it is an intelligent set of words - good thing - I just get the check each week for the same amount as long as the word count is there - don't look so stunned - it is a great world we live in, you and me. And the I awoke from the dream!!! Exclamation point!!!
Black taco? not touching that one - nooooo way!!!
What are you looking at? Did anyone watch the news today? If so would you let me know what is going on in the world please - my TV doesn't seem to go to any channels but those with football and this time of year baseball playoffs - I think it might be broken but I am not going to have it fixed until after the Super Bowl - same with the newspaper, how do you break the newspaper so you don't get news - I think they found a way!!! Exclamation point!!!
Hambone says he used to be able to throw a mean breaking ball and a slider until his arm realized it was attached to the rest of his body - not sure of the meaning but no more amyl nitrate for Hambone on a Sunday morning - good idea!!!
All for now and all for one - or something like that!!! Exclamation point!!! Bye and Bye!!!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day in the life of the world's greatest one armed, three fingered, most of a left thigh and no right butt cheek lion tamer! Don't believe everything you read here - just warning you up front - this lion tamer still has a right butt cheek. And this lion tamer loves his little Tinkerbell with the shark teeth and gills! I also love Lightning McQueen - fast, cars! A pretty wonderful day as far as the weather goes for this part of the land and in this time of the year - sorry got a little turned around on the weather, time thing. What?
Started the day just like most of the 52 times 365 days that I have started days - leap years and days that weren't started might cut down on that count a little but that is a ballpark figure anyway - so in the ballpark or ballpark figure, close to the ballpark? something like that - I guess early on I didn't have the need for so much caffeine to pry the peepers open and get the ticker ticking - such lost time without the java - just think how much more productive I could have been if I had discovered the rich full taste of a great cup of brewed coffee before I learned of waking and baking - the possibilities are mind boggling or boggling mind - good day at the office - no one got married at our office - good!
"I wrote a book, it was a long and lengthy thing, several hundred pages, but I only used two words, two bad words, I used those two words in different sequences and rhythms, spaced them differently, the same two words, two bad words for hundreds of pages, the critics thought it was brilliant, creative and inventive, it sold thousands upon thousands of copies, it was a public success, a book with only two words, two bad words, repeated over and over and over, I made the tour stops and book signings, talk shows and awards, I was the next big thing, the greatest ever, I became rich and famous, I wrote a book, with only two words, two bad words."
Big Larry must be hiding from me again. Whenever I ask about his sore back he clams up and won't talk to me for a week or so.
Not talking about any news! So I guess it will be the end of rambling today for this ramblin' man - not very creative there Ramblin' Dude - Bye and Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman: Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman: Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day in the city we call the windy city - not sure who 'we' is and really I have never heard anyone call this the windy city - so nevermind - we will keep it to 'Just another Day' - I like that - this the first week in October - yes close to a very special day in the history of the world - some 50 plus years ago a madman was brought into this world - you guessed it - Big Larry - a big happy b-day to Big Larry - you so funny - funny man!
Started the day as usual - cold mornings are like drugs - not sure how or why they are like drugs - maybe they are like cotton fluffy ear muffs - yes, cold mornings are like cotton fluffy ear muffs that are on drugs - ok, now I have it - quickly downed a whole cup of luke warm Starbucks Anniversary Edition blend - can I endorse a coffee chain on here? Well, maybe not - anyway if you drink the first cup fast and the second cup faster it will give you a rush to help you through the morning routine - next thing you know I am driving to work - forgot my one shoe and was late for work - tomorrow just one cup real quick - tone down the caffeine blindness - not too much going on at work to speak of - steady but not crazy -steady is good when you race cars for a living - which I don't - just saying. After work had a dentist appointment for a cleaning - that whole process is interesting - scraping gunk off of people's teeth all day long - takes a special person - don't really see any older people doing that - must be a burn out factor - like race car drivers.
Someone asked where I received the inspiration for my writing? Sorry, didn't understand the question. I heard inspiration and writing coming to me in a voice but don't comprehend either foreign term. Maybe if you read this dribble you wouldn't ask such questions.
Kind of lost track of Hambone for the past few weeks - has anyone seen him? Kind of worry about him with the cold weather - two years ago he got a chill and hasn't warmed up since - always talks of moving someplace warm, like Arizona - guess I already told you that though! I do tend to repeat myself - like a race car driver.
Well I am running out of inspiration for today - guess I should look up the word 'inspiration' - maybe I can buy a gram or two - bye and bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day in the City of Roses or Rose City? which is it? That's right - the reason you haven't seen me on here for a couple of days is not because I am bone ass lazy, well not totally the reason - no comments from my friends at the Stage Stop please - Yes, I am in Portland doing some very important research for some very important work stuff that is very important you know - I feel very comfortable in Portland - I feel good being here - the weather was a little suspect at first but turned out to be lovely - I want to move into a little corner of Powell's Book Store and spend a couple of years just reading - just reading and letting my mind ferment a great deal - look up the phrase 'ferment a great deal'.
Started each of the last two days with a lovely little breakfast but not too early - I believe that you should sleep until you wake up - not be rudely shaken from slumber by artificial means - damn you alarm clock, damn you - some coffee before and after a nice shower - I have tried the coffee while showering and that is a little over rated but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do - I think Lincoln said that - he never drank coffee in the shower though - what the hell do I know what Lincoln did or did not do - anyways - breakfast should not be too early - bacon, eggs, sausage, hash browns, oatmeal, fruit, juice and coffee don't sit well too early in the morning - that kind of breakfast should be saved for around 10:00am ish - nothing sounds too good at 6:00am -
and coffee is the only thing that should be taken that early - a little drive today to see the biggest body of water in the world - you know they now charge you 50 cents to see it - just like the worlds biggest pig or the worlds smallest horse - great day, great day, yes!
"JoJo was a gambling man, he gambled his life away, he bet his friend he could eat a horse and died the very next day."
Big Larry called today to tell me that the Olympics are going to be held in Brazil in the future but he didn't think people in Brazil could speak English so he wasn't sure how that was going to work. Big Larry doesn't really speak English and he doesn't work so I guess he would know about such things, I guess.
Fear not, my much loved ramblings are back - and front - but now I must say farewell, well type farewell - farewell - Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another day in the Big Apple - is New York the Big Apple? so I guess maybe this is the Big Pumpkin? oh what am I thinking - of course it is the Big Potato! Just another Day in the Big Potato - uhhh doesn't sound right - Big Spud? Big Tater? screw it!
Might be the last of the warm days we see this year - a great day but feel a change in the weather - you know when your weather bone starts tingling that there will be a change in the weather - tingle, tingle - guess season changes are like ice cream - some are chocolate and some are maple walnut - know what I mean?
I am proud to announce that this blog is now world wide and international at the same time - over 20 people have read this blog in three countries including North America and United States - thanks to my loyal followers I have been picked up for an additional 1000 blogs - I am free to write until the year 2011 and beyond if I want - or can.
"I used to drive a green Ford but it didn't get me very far, then I drove a white Ford and it didn't get me around the block, once I drove a yellow Ford and it went it reverse better than I thought, so now I don't drive a Ford and I do just fine."
Hambone, just because a woman tells you she is a nurse doesn't mean you unzip your pants and ask her if she thinks the red rash is bad, not good Hambone, not good....
Only news I saw today was something about kids spending more time in school, I will get more details and report back to you.
With time running down and the ball on the 45 I drop back and throw up a Hail Mary pass - game over, game over - Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an America Madman - Just another Day - but today was the first day of the rest of our life - what was yesterday? is tomorrow the second day or does it just start over - just wondering boys, just wondering - a very special day it was though - has there ever been a better Sept. 27, 2009 so far this year? I don't think so...
The day started with the company of my favorite almost two year old... I have a whole new and different perspective of life when in the presence of such a bright star - spent the morning and early afternoon with the biggest 'Cars' fan - mowed the lawn, sprayed for bugs around perimeter of the house, the fun never stops in funville, and then went to a salad bar, then to Bestest Buy for a laptop case and finally to Schwinco for some warehouse bargains on canned, super processed and frozen items. Funville I tell ya, funville! In between all of that excitement I did manage to watch 17.5 hours of NFL today - how do I fit it all in, how do I do it?
Did you read the story about the guy that was renting out a vacant house to others even though he did not own it but claimed he held some tax paper on it and that was his proof of ownership - I am not sure how that works but I am thinking with all of the empty houses now wouldn't it be enterprising of someone to just put up a for rent sign on these places and start collecting rent? I am sure it isn't that easy but let's see if we hear any more stories similar to the one today.
Did you know Big Larry has a degree in Psychology? Neither did I! Maybe it's not Psychology, maybe it's Social Science or Social Security or something like... anyway I saw a certificate or a degree from some University... printed at Sear's but I think it was a real piece of paper... Big Larry is a smart fella...
What will the coming days bring, just wondering boys, just wondering... By and Bye!!!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day o boy - what a day it is o boy - nice day in the hood - as hood as it gets in southwest redneckia - doesn't get much better than a beautiful day in the fall with just a touch of the season change in the air - except for a nice spring day with the promise of new beginnings and growth - or some other great day o boy!
Yes, started the day as usual - slid out of the 600 thread count cotton sheets - not even sure if that is good or not - does it get better the higher the thread count or is it like golf and the lower the score the better? that is golf right? - powered down a couple of cups of coffee to start the day just right and headed out with a smile on my face and love in my heart - I think it was my heart, anyways a good day at work - nothing too crazy or bizarre today just a well run day - came home from a day of employment, went to dinner and then off to one of my favorite places to spend a quiet evening - your local chain book store - good times! One thing I did notice in the bookstore was a section of books titled "New History" - now not sure what that means, was it new releases of history? was it history that has been re-written? did someone find some new stuff? - just wondering, smile o boy!
Haven't seen Big Larry or Hambone in some time now - not that unusual for them to stay away for days and even weeks at a time - once Big Larry met a girl at the Stage Stop and I didn't see him for about a month - I think he ended up in Nevada somewhere - something to do with falling asleep in her camper and her boyfriend kidnapping him and demanding a ransom - I guess it could be true - could be!
Well, I do believe that is all for today o boy - have yourself a merry little merry - o boy - Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day unlike any other Day but Just another Day - that was totally lame, totally - the day was not lame though - a beautiful day in the beautifulist day place in the place that is this place - oh, geez, lame ass stuff, totally.
Started the day as usual - pried myself from slumber and tripped my way through the routine that is my routine - why am I so lame today? routine that is my routine? - lame - but anywaysssss.... for some reason I did not drink my usual elephant heart stopping amount of super charged caffeine laced liquid I lovingly refer to as God's nectar, some others call it coffee - hmmm... do feel a little sluggish, maybe there is something to that whole stimulant thing...maybe the scientist guys that dream up that stuff get one right now and then - but I know some science guys that are pretty cool because anyone that sends me the latest 'Trailer Park Boys' is just alright with me I tell ya - not too much to report as far as my day at work goes - Unknown Corona - I will tell you that story someday, or maybe not, rules you know.
Did anyone see our President of the United States on late night talk shows? Me either but I heard about it - does that seem right? Don't people that are promoting movies or books go on late night talk shows and tell jokes or fall down drunk and stuff? Now don't get me wrong, I think maybe he is trying to connect with the masses and communicate to a wider audience and I am all for better communication - because we all know I need to learn that whole communicate more openly thing, shyness is shyness, what? - but just seems a tad (that means 'a little' for those not familiar with the metric system) undignified for the President to be cracking jokes on late night TV - such is the world we live in I guess.
Has anyone seen Big Larry the last couple of days? Said he had a full tank of gas on Saturday night - not sure how Big Larry gets a full tank of gas in his pickup legally but now he is gone - probably went to scout out a deer camp - as soon as it gets cold he will be back - the cold didn't bother him all his life until that one time with the cheap tequila in Twin Falls - oooo boy - sorry I brought that up - if you see Big Larry tell him his mail is being sent here and I am holding it for him.
And that is just about all the rambling that this rambling man can ramble about rambling - what? - lame, just lame, lame lame... Bye! Lame Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day in the French countryside - or I mean Paris - or the Paris of Idaho - oh hell, this place isn't anything like Paris - although I have never been to Paris I have been to Salt Lake City - so I have been around - you know it, you know it! A beautiful day as it is the last day of summer officially I think - or something to that affect (effect?) - freakin' English major I ain't - do you really consider the language we speak and write here English or is it some derivative of some bastard of a language that used to be English - the way I use words I should be ashamed, ashamed I say!
Started the day gasping for a strong dose of caffeine - and it continues into the evening as I am still sipping at the $2.99 white porcelain cup from CostPlus filled with the goodness that is 'bucks coffee - a little product placement for ya - not too much going on today - work was work - always something interesting but not always worth mentioning - simple things to keep the interest going.
Hambone wants to talk about politics - in one spasm of words he curses the friggin' democrats for turning this country into a socialist nation of pansies and freeloaders - not sure where he picked up terms like 'socialist' and 'democrat' because I am almost positive he doesn't understand the meaning of either, must be listening to AM radio again - but then he curses the fact that his monthly allotment of food stamps are not enough to keep him in meat stick and hot pepper cheese and his unemployment benefits might run out after 2 years - Hambone is a funny guy! Not funny ha, ha...
Anyone have any questions? I have a whole bunch of questions but none have to do with why I am here or where I am going when I am not here - so I guess we will end this days session on that note - musical reference? Maybe so, maybe so - Good Bye! Good Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day - the holiest day of the week - as reported by the unholiest of the unholy - don't even know what that means frankly - guess I shouldn't say things if I don't know what they mean - just kidding - half this crap is totally unknown to me - did I say half? You know what I mean? Oh!
Started the day midway through the morning as I didn't roll out of the sack - there is that phrase again - until after 9:00am - guess I shouldn't bitch about what time I woke up because most of the time I tend to complain about not sleeping at all - just seems when you get up that late half your day is over already - what a complainer, sleep too much, waaaa..., don't sleep enough, waaaa.... - waa, waa, waa - what a complainer!
Good day though - just a touch of fall in the air - never sure if you are supposed to capitalize a season? Fall? fall? Get back to me on that would you? Thanks! Using a lot of punctuation today! What is with that? Huh? A day of NFL and just hanging - not bad - need a weekend like this once every month or so - soon it will be winter (Winter) and I am sucky about travel when the roads are even just a bit bad - sucky I say!
I had mentioned some time ago about a disclaimer that I should post at the beginning of each of these episodes of projectile word vomiting - still working on that - probably should do it soon so no one reads this and takes it the wrong way - wouldn't want that - oh no - heaven forbid - heaven forbid? There I go with the holy stuff - really heaven, really?
One topic that sticks in my mind today is the continued push for a trolley in the local metropolitan downtown area - a bit of sarcasm in using the term metropolitan - the idea is that a trolley system in the downtown area would move people around more efficiently downtown and bring growth and business to the downtown area creating jobs and commerce downtown - and I really don't have anything against a trolley system but I do believe the timing is not the best to be pushing it right now - if the economy were hot and the rest of the valley's transportation issues were under control the the idea might have a better footing, but to continue to bring it up now is really a misplaced priority - work on the bus system first, work on mass transit around the valley, even put some of that effort into better roads but the time for a trolley system is not great - just ask one of the laid off Boise City employees if a trolley system is a good idea right now?
Wow, where did that little burst of a rant come from? Who is writing this today? - the answer is no one because I am done and done - sleepy - Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day of another Week of another Month of another Year...blah, blah, blah... but a lovely day and love to have days that are at my leisure - ahhhh... it is toward the end of summer and will be fall soon - harvest is near an end... blah, blah, blah... see how i do that - when I don't have anything to write I go to the blah and dot technique - little trick I learned from being a lazy ass!
Started the day with a great cup of hot coffee - I derive a great deal of pleasure and satisfaction from the simple things in life - sleeping till I awake on my own, a great cup of coffee, a hobbit serving me breakfast with plenty of bacon and eggs to strengthen the legs - who? what? Just doing a few jobs around the house, watching great college football - had a chance to take a nap but moved instead - crazy craziness is what it is I tell you!
Seems to be a rash of teachers having relations with students lately but is there more of that going on or are more just getting caught - I don't really remember if any teachers were involved with students in my younger school years - not that I was aware anyway - don't really remember any teachers being attractive enough - oh, well - wonder what happens to a teacher to make them turn to a student for sex - hmmm.
Big Larry has a new winter coat - don't know where he got the money to buy a new coat - nothing saying he bought it I guess - he is afraid it will be a cold winter and wants to be sure he stays warm - told me he is thinking of moving to somewhere warm, maybe Arizona, but he heard the cost of living is higher there - not sure when Big Larry started worrying about cost of living - Hambone told him he wouldn't move to Arizona because he doesn't think they will let him take his firearms across the border - Hambone is paranoid about taking his guns across borders because he doesn't want to end up in one of those fenced in jails like he saw on 60 minutes or Dateline or one of those news shows - a truck driver from Montana told Big Larry he should stay in Idaho because there are just a bunch of losers in Arizona and Big Larry would just get sucked into that cesspool of society - Big Larry just wants to be sure he stays warm in winter.
Is you a hobbit or is you not - then that will be all for me my little friend! Bye and so bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - NOT Just another Day, but yet another day all the same - livin' lovida loco in the heart of whine country - spelling, no it is just fine. What is happening boys? I think we need a bigger boat - beautiful day in the neighborhood and all points in between.
Started the day in a slightly different manner - rose a few minutes early and put my sweet barbeque bean concoction together in the crock pot - a little get together tonight and no one can pass up the crock o' beans! Day was nothing if not a little manic, is that the correct description? I guess I am the only one that would know - passed the day with a smile on my face and a scab on my cheek - don't look, I am hideous - or look and wonder how did that dude get a scab the size and shape of Montana on his face? - came home from work and had a small get together of family for dinner - ate too much as usual - nummy stuff - really need to get productive this weekend and get a few things done around here, like hacking down the jungle that was once a lawn - other things that may be accomplished while one eye is on the football games! Love it!
Today was one of those no news days - sorry - my reporting of the news is a little suspect as of late - I can't think of one topic that even comes to mind - again assuming I have a mind and it actually functions, functions, functions.
Ever have one of those people that ask a lot of questions? Hambone asks one question after another and about every third question is about sex - he asks a lot about masturbation - like frequency and stuff - Geez, whack away dude, what the hell do I care, just keep it to yourself - making me uncomfortable - Geez!
OK, that must be the end of the line for today - is end of the line a railroad term or drug user term? Bye and bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day in the life of Superman - leaping tall buildings in a single bound - as long as my sore back is OK - a wonderful early fall day in the greatest state that starts with an I and a D, A, and a ho,ho,ho - such a clever little monkey.
Oh boy, almost didn't get out of bed this morning - not for any other reason than pure ass laziness - bed was so snugly, wugly warm and haven't been sleeping great again - must be a major thought inspiration coming on - happens when I don't sleep well - either that or crap just sounds better when you are sleep deprived - seemed like a great idea at the time - wish I had the three fingers on my left hand back - coffee was my savior this morning - big shout out to my favorite nephew, the coffee master!
Not much to report in the world of work today - nice productive day that flowed from one minute to the next without anyone yelling at me or freaking out because of some misplaced life priority - so what if the new white out bottle does not have the comfort grip - if you freak out because there is no comfort grip on the white out bottle, whoa!
I did hear that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has started publishing the bible in a Spanish version now. Not sure why that caught my attention but it did. So many directions and discussions I want with this topic - stay, stay, stay - makes me wonder a lot of things but lets talk about them at some future meeting.
Am I done? Maybe, maybe not, maybe, maybe not - guess if you don't know and I don't know than I must be done - bye, Bye, BYe, BYE - like how I did that!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another freaky Friday but it is Monday so it was different - yes, it makes sense if you turn around and read it from the other side.
Started today as most days - don't you think it is important to start the day? I like to begin the day by waking - seems like the thing to do - I have had a few days in my life when I didn't wake up, well at least didn't get out of bed for one reason or another but that is a whole 'nother story. Day went by swimmingly, nice day for a day - nothing really to report - no strange or even mildly interesting events to report - crap I should be making stuff up to write.
I don't even think too much was happening in the world outside of my view - the big hub bub today was Michael Jordan's Hall of Fame speech in which he was kind of an ass and the other thing was some hip hop douche interrupted an awards ceremony - yes, people that is the news of the day - that stuff and this weird ass blog you are reading. Hope you are enjoying the view.
Big Larry is a Rock star, Big Larry is goin' to go far, Big Larry drives a big car, Big Larry, BIG LARRY, Big Larry is a Rock Star!
Does anyone read this drivel or am I just strokin' it for my own amusement? I am going to give you a year or two to let me know. As long as my brain short circuits on a regular basis I can keep this mess rollin'.
Except now I am done for today and you will have to go now - I mean I have to go - Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day - a lovely day in the great northwest which is north and west of what? - isn't that a matter of where you are at the time? Just asking! Geez! First full weekend of NFL football and a full weekend of college football - love it - yes, I am repeating myself from the other day - don't hate me because I am idle minded - is that a condition?
Started the day with a bang - not sure what that means - actually started the day with a cup of Joe in a manufactured home in between some pine trees and surrounded by more trees, I guess some pine and others not pine. Was in that position because I spent the weekend in a little getaway lovingly referred to as the "cabin by the lake." Very nice weekend I might add!
What would you do with a bonus $500? I often dream about what I would do with a multi-million dollar lottery win but don't often dream about what dreams could be made real with an lottery winning of $500. Dinner and a movie? Pay the utility bills? Maybe fulfill the dream from a short nap but not a full on techni-color dream! Is techni-color a trademark? Or is it a condition? You so slow baby!
Has anyone seen my Nanny? She is a bright and shiny Nanny with six or seven sides and a candy apple red undercoat - my Nanny answers to the name of Lola or Joey but never call my Nanny after eight o'clock at night for the phones don't ring in the time zone she resides - Wow!!! where did that come from? I really need to check the expiration date on the canned whole chickens! Do they lure the chickens into the can and put a lid on them or how exactly is that done?
OK, well, if you see me standing by the side of the road and it looks like I might need assistance you know what to do! Good bye from the Northwest of things south and east! Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day which means just another Night which means just another Day, you get the point! - but you really need to enjoy each of those days as they come - it is toward the middle of the ninth month of 09 - not important though - oh I guess it might be important to some - if it is your birthday or other important day, like trash day or pay day etc.
Day started as usual - not a terribly exciting day - fairly busy - coffee was good today - always a positive - just trying to think of anything funny or strange happening - crap not a single thing - the first regular season game of NFL - love it!
I actually caught a little news today - seemed to be mostly reaction to the Presidents speech last night concerning health care reform - it kind of gripes my ass that there is so much 'us against them' bullshit - health care in this country needs some attention and what we end up getting is freakin' bickering about who is right and who is wrong - just get over the crap and get together and get something done or don't do anything but this bickering and bickering is bullshit! And I am not taking one side or the other but this churning is getting the country nowhere! Work toward a positive end, positive for the country and not one party or the other! Should have never got me started on that - ha, ha, ha!
Big Larry has tickets for this weekends BSU game - how did he get tickets? - he can barely scrape enough cash together for gas to get around the block - wonder what he did to get tickets to a football game? - maybe Hambone had something to do with it - he works once in awhile so maybe he had money - it will be interesting to see how Big Larry handles a crowd - he hates being in a public restroom with another person let alone lining up shoulder to shoulder at the trough urinal - oh well, probably hear about it on the news - "Big Larry, Bogan Prince of Idaho, arrested for public nuisance."
The train just ran out of steam - bye, bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day - bright and shiny goes the day - a very nice and lovely day in the September of the year - how is your day?
This, the first day of the work week after a long weekend started as most days - not enough coffee to shake the cobwebs of the time off - not anything too pressing to announce as the work day proceeded - is that a word? proceeded? probably not - I seem to make up words as I go - no great or terrible moments - Insane Clown Posse is in town - if you see four of their vans at a Motel you should stop and take a picture.
A guy ran over a skunk as he was driving down the road, he stopped, picked up the dead skunk and placed it in his trunk - when asked why he would put the dreadfully stinky skunk in the trunk of his car, his reply was that he didn't want everyone driving by to be offended by the smell - moral of the story? Oh hell, ha ha ha ha ha..... I crack myself up!
Did anyone see the school speech today? Me either. As a reporter for the people I really must put a little more effort into stuff that goes on in the world. It seems there was something in the speech about something and then more about this and that. Pretty typical speech I think.
Someone asked why I spend so much time talking about myself and all of my little quirks and weirdness - Oh I don't know - do you really think it is quirky and weird? My life baby, my life. Maybe I should start each one with a disclaimer - I am definitely going to think of what is to be disclaimed.
And then an end was near to the pain called rambling - bye until we meet again on this road to Happyville! Bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - NOT just another day in the freakish life of a freakin' freewheeling freak from Freaksville - guess what word is my favorite today? - you guessed it! - Oh you didn't? Don't worry there will be another chance to guess at the end of this freaking run on of words and other things concocted of the alphabet - do you have the same problem I do when it comes to the alphabet?
Started today like most days - waking, scratching in certain places, opening of eyes (think I have mentioned the eye issue before), but opened them in a place that was not my own but belonged to a resort - that is cool - and yes I was supposed to be there - wasn't illegal or unknown to the resort - I could get used to the life style but they would have to make some concessions for me - because I am so high maintenance - those white robes need to be just a little softer - kind of gave me a rash on my tushy - and just two chocolates with the bed turn down? you gotta be kidding me - you want me to live there I will need at least 12 chocolates each night and that is non negotiable - see what they have to say to that!
"I stepped outside the lines tonight and what did I see? A freaky little dude staring back at me..." Quote from my mind.
Oh man, forgot to pay attention to any world, local or otherwise news today - did anything happen? I did just briefly hear something about President Obama and a speech - any idea what that was about? I will try to find out and let you know later.
OK, one last guess at my favorite word of the day - do you think I should do a "Guess the song lyrics" section once in awhile - I mean real song lyrics, not my song lyrics - let me know - Big Larry is not offended easily - Big Larry can be offensive though - and that is the end my friend, bye!

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day in what is considered the Eden of the Northwest - who in the hell would ever consider this anything like Eden has never been past the Ada county line - can't say what day it is or even the time of year - a little mystery for you to figure out there Einstein - was that a little mean? Sorry, only up to 50% on my caffeine level - will be better soon - who am I kidding? Does anyone really think six more cups of super caffeinated coffee will make me a better person? Let's try it anyway! Can't hurt, right? Might shake a little but that is how I know I have had the right amount of coffee, shake, perspire just a bit, hair on the back of my neck tingles - level of caffeine just right - it is maintaining that level that is a bitch - that much coffee is bound to make water - do I obsess about coffee? sip, sip, gulp.
An early start today, kind of think it is an aging thing - not that I am old, just sleeping in seems to be a rare thing anymore - once in awhile I can force myself to sleep in till 9:00am but that is becoming an oddity - 7:00am and usually wide awake - periodically have sleep issues - I don't practice good sleep hygiene - fancy term for too much freakin' coffee at 10 o'clock at night - ha,ha,ha, back to the coffee issue - hell, I need some right now!
Bye and bye - only to return with a rose and a poem - WHAT?

Ramblings of an American Madman

Ramblings of an American Madman - Just another Day - sometime in the early fall or late summer - or really late spring - or really early winter - guess you get the point - at least it is still 2009 - not sure why I need to identify date or time or season - just gives an anchor to the point or maybe a swivel to no point at all!
Started the day like any other Friday (clue to the weekday) - rolled out of the sack - what is a sack? Slugged down a dose of coffee - I think today's selection was a Central American blend - lovely bouquet with a very nice finish and lingering flourish - nothing of notice at work, flowed very nice - someone said something about the day going by quickly and being able to start the weekend, but I am not sure it is a good idea to wish for time to pass too quickly - I am thinking it is better for the time to pass smoothly and not fast - the hours, days, weeks, months and years pass fast enough without wishing a day to go by - enjoy the day - make the most of it - work with it - came home after work, had a little to eat and headed out to do a few errands - very pleasant evening.
I forgot to pay attention to any news today, well I didn't forget, I just didn't pay attention - I guess a war is going on somewhere still, maybe something was said about the economy - college football starts this weekend, love that - if I was being paid to cover current topics I would be fired today - well, such is life!
Did you miss me? I didn't think so - haven't spewed my brand of mystery meat in this format for a couple of days - don't worry - I am not going anywhere - lucky you - I was just on a top secret mission for an alternate galaxy and really can't talk about it - maybe someday - maybe not!
Think that is all for now - Hambone (not his real name) asked about the BSU game last night - not sure I know - have a great night and day - bye squid bye!
